Social partners have recently signed a provincial work contract for agricultural and nursery workers in the province of Brindisi, which expired last December and is valid until December 31, 2027. The contract stipulates a salary increase of 6.5% to be paid in two installments: 4% from November 1, 2024, and 2.5% from January 1, 2025.
Prominent issues such as gender equality, opposition to undeclared labor, and tax evasion and avoidance were discussed. In fact, with the renewal, there was a desire to encourage participation in the National Network of Quality Agricultural Work and to urge the territorial section of the network for quality agricultural work in Brindisi to promote effective initiatives against illegal intermediation, undeclared labor, and tax evasion and avoidance.
The contract also highlighted plans for active vigilance against those who oppose legality and transparency and the promotion and implementation of language learning programs and targeted training. Activation of courses for Workers’ Safety Managers were also included.
In a nutshell, the additional qualifying points of the contract aim to promote positive actions on transport and housing policies, enhancing the work of the permanent Prefecture table for fighting against gang-mastering. There are also plans to implement supplemental support measures for workers, providing protection that can fill the gaps in public health and national supplementary welfare provisions.
They also plan to experiment with introducing, if possible, corporate bargaining practices aimed at rewarding work commitment in situations of proven economic growth.
