The renewal of the provincial labor contract for agricultural workers and nurseries was signed on November 27, 2024. The agreement, signed by Confagricoltura, Condiretti, Cia, Flai-Cgil, Fai-Cisl and Uila-Uil Ragusa, is valid for the three-year period 2024/2027. New professional qualifications have been included in the agreement, in addition to new disciplinary complaints for excessive use of the cell phone during working hours and the failure to use individual protective devices (PPE).
From a wage perspective, as of November 1, 2024, a 6.3% increase has, effectively, been applied. There is no contractual holiday pay, however, the travel allowance has been increased, equal to 0.090 euros for each kilometer traveled. Within 15 kilometers, no reimbursement is expected.
Below are the wage tables with the increases for permanent agricultural workers. At the VI Level, the base pay as of 31.12.2023 was 1.245,14 and post increase, is 1.323,58. The total new figure post-increase is 1.664,38. For the V Level, the base pay as of 31.12.2023 was 1.194,43 and post increase, is 1.269,68 with a total new figure post-increase is 1.598,18.
For temporary agricultural workers, at the VI Level, the base hourly wage as of 31.12.2023 was 7,36 and post increase, it was 7,82 with a gross hourly wage post-increase of 10,88. For the V Level, the base hourly wage was 7,07 and post increase, it is 7,52 with a gross hourly wage post-increase of 10,46.
In conclusion, the restructuring of the provincial labor contract has not only brought about an increase in wages for agricultural workers, it has also introduced new disciplinary procedures and qualifications into the system. It is hoped that these adjustments will create a more favorable working environment and increase the overall job satisfaction and retention of these employees.
