The National Pension and Assistance Institute for Italian Journalists (INPGI) has announced that it will continue to support “Win-in” and “Win-plus”, supplementary health measures aimed at expanding welfare for freelance and self-employed journalists, throughout 2025 and 2026. These measures are confirmed in collaboration with CASAGIT, the health assistance mutual founded by journalist category bodies.
The welfare project is voluntary and is aimed at those with less economic availability. The goal is to provide integrated healthcare welfare to guarantee greater protection for registered members. The first approval by the supervising ministries of the decision by the then Administrative Committee was in September 2017. This opened the door to the supplementary health assistance program created specifically by CASAGIT, based on an agreement between the two bodies, with a total commitment from INPGI of approximately 16 million euros.
For the “Win-in” project, after an initial extension until the end of 2024, INPGI is now granting another extension, using the funds still available until the end of 2025. The same process is being followed for the “Win-plus” project: after the first decision in 2022, approved by the supervising ministries, the confirmation of the supplementary health protection program now extends until the end of 2026.
These programs, in this last phase, provide extensions of funding in favour of members for welfare tools amounting to over 2 million euros. They will be aimed at those who have maintained the participation requirements, with annual gross incomes from 2,100 to 30,000 euros, with guaranteed access even for income bands. This continuation of investment demonstrates INPGI’s commitment to supporting the health and welfare of Italy’s freelance journalists.
