The Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL) released a notice on 14th January 2025, detailing the coefficients used for calculating interest (No. 370) as a function of the average interest rate on government bonds for 2024, which stood at 3.41%. These coefficients are applicable under Article 44, Paragraph 3, of the Presidential Decree 1124/1965 for calculating interest due during staggered payments of the self-insurance premium.
The computed coefficients allow for the right to defer payment to the next working day in the scenario where the payment deadline of the 16 falls on a holiday or weekend. They also take into account the provision to deposit dues falling between 1st and 20th August by 20th August with no additional increments.
The determined coefficients applied to values of the second, third, and fourth instalment of the 2024/2025 self-insurance premium are as follows:
1st Instalment – The due date is 16th February 2025, while the effective date for payment is 17th February 2025. The applied interest coefficient for this instalment is 0.
2nd Instalment – The due date is 16th May 2025, with the same day being the effective date for payment. The interest coefficient applied for this instalment is 0.00822137.
3rd Instalment – The due date for this instalment is 16th August 2025, with the extended date for payment being 20th August 2025, and the applied interest coefficient stands at 0.01681644.
4th Instalment – Due on 16th November 2025, with the effective date for payment being 17th November 2025, the applied interest coefficient for this instalment is 0.02541151.
These coefficients are multiplied with the respective instalment amounts for the calculation of interest due on each instalment of the self-insurance premium for the year 2024/2025.
