As stated in the press release issued on December 20, 2024, three Italian trade unions – Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl, Uilcom-Uil – have expressed the need for the modernization and simplification of sector contracts for the renewal of the CCNL agreement, which affects employees in the Radio, Multimedia, and Multiplatform companies.
The unions demand a specific nation-wide tool/observatory focused on Artificial Intelligence to facilitate regular discussion and monitoring of career development, training, and pay improvement. They require that collective bargaining could be conducted remotely across all companies, regardless of size. They propose the implementation of easily accessible digital bulletin boards in company portals, aiming to improve access to union information.
Speaking of accessing information, the unions requested that percentages of temporary or unconventional contracts are reported by individual productive units within companies that operate across multiple platforms, rather than just reporting for the entire company.
Further demands included the universal formation of safety and environment commissions in every company and to ensure the effectiveness of the standing bilateral commission, which would require reviews and updates to the contract’s classification model to account for developments in technology, AI, and digitalization.
They also advocate for the introduction of additional permits, shift benefits, reduced working hours, and job retention beyond the existing provision for women and LGBTQI workers who are victims of violence. There is also the push to strengthen parental protection rights.
Regarding economic matters, the union requested a recovery of past three years, due to significant deviations from the inflation indices initially set during the renewal in 2022. They ask for a pay rise coherent with Istat indices for the three-year period, not absorbed by previous unilateral payments, and to make the Wage Guarantee Element mandatory.
