Platform Approved for CCNL Gas

Italian trade unions, Filctem-Cigil, Femca-Cisl, and Uiltec-Uil, on January 16th, approved a platform of demands for the renewal of the National Collective Labour Contract (CCNL) for the Gas and Water sector. This contract, which expired on December 31st of last year, applies to approximately 45,000 workers employed in around 600 companies.

The economic request made by the three trade unions is a total increase of €315.00 spread over the three-year reference period of 2025-2027. The labor organizations believe this increase will help ensure decent living wages for workers in the industry during that period.

In addition to their monetary demands, the unions also propose a regulatory change which involves reducing the working hours to 38 hours per week. This move is aimed at ensuring a better work-life balance among the workers in the sector.

Another notable demand made by the unions revolves around contracts within the sector. In an effort to enrich in-house expertise and reduce reliance on external resources, the unions demand a consolidation of internal activities and a reduction in outsourcing.

This platform will soon be sent to employer associations in the sector including Utilitalia, Proxigas, Assogas, and Anfida, to start renewal negotiations as soon as possible. This negotiation comes in light of the agreement reached on updating the classification system.

In conclusion, Italian trade unions are striving to promote better work conditions for workers in the Gas and Water sector. Through their demands for a pay increase, reduced work hours, and reduced reliance on outsourcing, they aim to bring about a better work environment for workers and also boost their morale and productivity. Cooperation from industry employers will be pivotal in progressing these negotiations. The goal for all parties involved should be an agreement that caters to the needs of both employers and employees in the industry.
