Rimpatriati: la non applicazione dell’indennità di disoccupazione

Starting from January 1, the Italian National Institute for Social Security (INPS) has prohibited both citizens and welfare institutes from submitting unemployment applications. This follows the Parliament’s amendment to the Budget Law 2025 (Law n. 207/2024), which overrides Law n. 402/1975. This law had initially established unemployment benefits for a certain category of repatriated workers whose employment ended after January 1, 2025.

Following this amendment, the INPS no longer accepts any applications for unemployment benefits from repatriated workers. Moreover, the various territorial branches of the INPS have not been dictated to enact any further procedures since the system automatically rejects these applications, providing legal reasoning for the rejection.

However, as for the applications related to job terminations that occurred up until December 31, 2024, the INPS affirms the guidelines already provided with Circular n. 106/2015 and Message n. 1328/2024. Therefore, the changes enacted affect only those workers who were repatriated after the start of 2025.
