After months of negotiation, it fell apart on 14th January when bargaining parties – Aran, Fp-Cgil, Cisl-Fp, Uil-Fpl, Fials, Nursind, and Nursing-Up, didn’t reach an agreement for the new 2022-2024 deal concerning the more than 580,000 health department employees. Aran had proposed an average monthly increase of €172, intending to strike a deal only with the unions in favor and a 51% representation majority. However, after prolonged discussions, Nursing-Up, Fp-Cgil and Uil-Fp trade unions did not favor signing the agreement, failing to reach the quorum.
According to the unions in opposition, no legal agreement was reached that would sufficiently improve career paths and the professional status of health and safety workers. Therefore, even after months of negotiation, the deal didn’t come to a conclusion. It underlines the complexity of labor negotiations, particularly in essential sectors like healthcare.
