On February 11, 2025, the social parties Confcommercio Toscana, Fisascat-Cisl and Uiltucs Toscana signed an agreement pertaining to seasonal work which will take effect from April 1, 2025. This agreement is designed for companies that, while not operating in a seasonal nature, have to manage work surges due to seasonal reasons, especially since they operate in predominantly tourist locations.
The agreement defines the following periods of seasonality: for marine destinations, from April until October; for mountain and proximity destinations, from April to September and from November 15th to January 15th. During the Christmas holiday season (from November 15th to January 15th), seasonal contracts can be concluded which must stipulate a contract duration of no less than 16 working days. Furthermore, during longer seasonality times, a minimum contractual period of at least two months should be considered.
Employers wishing to take advantage of the provisions of the agreement, commencing from the 1st of April, 2025, have to submit their request for membership to the Regional Labor Observatory (ORL). This arrangement aims to ensure a balance between businesses’ needs to accommodate for tourist influxes in different periods and fair work conditions for those working under these contracts.
