On February 11, 2025, the trade union organizations Fim, Fiom, and Uilm announced that following a meeting with a delegation from Federmeccanica and Assistal, discussions regarding contract renewal did not progress. As a result, the unions confirm their intention to proceed with an eight-hour strike, distributed across regions, to take place within the month of February. In addition, there will be a pause on overtime and flexibility. The unions believe it’s essential to restart the negotiations in order to renew the sector contract, thereby supporting and promoting the metalworking industry and employment. Therefore, if there’s no willingness from Federmeccanica and Assistal to restart the negotiations by February’s end, several strikes will be scheduled for the month of March.
