The contract renewal on October 3, 2024, between the provincial presidents of Coldiretti, Confagricoltura and Cia farmers’ associations, and workers’ unions FAI-CISL, FLAI-CGIL and UILA-UIL has introduced new economic and legal benefits for the approximately 25,000 provincial sector employees. These changes included new job classifications, such as grass cutters using manual tools including motorized brush cutters, hospitality and reception managers including accepting digital bookings at agritourism businesses, dining and kitchen operators at agritourism companies, and direct salespeople outside the company.
In addition, a 10% increase in holiday time, at the expense of the employer, has been arranged. Specific permits were introduced for migrant workers who need to take Italian language tests. Another innovation is the right of reinstatement, which now takes into account not only the actually worked days, but also periods of illness and injury, recognizing the right of workers to a greater job continuity.
Economically, the wage increase of 4% in effect from last October is followed by an additional 2% from April 1, 2025; the transportation allowance saw an increase of 30%. The new wage improvement adds to the previous one, a 4% increase effective from October 2024.
