On February 28, 2025, several Lombardian transport and labor organizations, including Confartigianato Trasporti Lombardia, Cna-Fita Lombardia, Claai Lombardia, Casartigiani Lombardia and Filt-Cgil Lombardia, Fit-Cisl Lombardia, Uiltrasporti Lombardia, signed an agreement aimed toward traveling personnel based in Lombardy. For these workers, the standard weekly work performance is set at 47 hours. The work schedule is distributed over a maximum of six days per week and is balanced over four weeks.
From an economic perspective, the agreement updated some structures, from overtime work to travel allowances. It established the provision of an economic discontinuity treatment. This treatment is related to the “dead times” during which the driver, for example, might be waiting for extended periods at customs or dealing with port formalities. It also provides for a real pay increase for drivers within a gross range from 300.00 to 800.00 euros monthly.
In addition to adjusting the structures regarding overtime labor and travel allowances, this new agreement recognizes and monetarily compensates for the non-productive waiting times that drivers often have to experience. These changes are all part of a broader shift towards appreciating and rewarding the work of travel personnel who are significant contributors to the region’s logistic and economic operations.
