Starting from April 1, 2025, INPS (National Institute of Social Security) began assigning the new ATECO 2025 code to new employers. This was detailed in the recent circular no. 71/2025 that discusses the introduction of the new ATECO 2025 code and represents a new classification of economic activities. The code was also registered for those who indicated the previous ATECO 2007 code, by automatically converting it to the corresponding ATECO 2025 code.
In a note from May 13, 2025 (No. 1471), INPS also announced that it will progressively assign this ATECO 2025 code to all enrollees who were already registered by April 1, 2025, and are in active or reactivated state. The note also specifies the operational changes in the process.
Notably, all individuals in the active state as per the institute’s records are involved in this process. However, for enrollees who are in the suspended state, the transition to the new ATECO 2025 code will take place at the time of any reactivation, in a special manner, which is also detailed in the same note.
