After 18 months of negotiations, an agreement has been signed between the trade unions and Agens, as well as Italian Railway Group executives, to renew the national collective bargaining agreement for Mobility/Railway Activities and the second level company agreement for the Italian State Railways Group. Both contracts, which expired on 31st December 2023, have been renewed and now establish wage increases and regulatory changes aimed at improving working conditions.
The new contracts affect over 90,000 workers, including those employed in contracted services such as catering, cleaning, reduced mobility personal assistance, and night support services. From a wage perspective, the agreement provides for an average monthly increase of €230.00 (at level C1), to be given in three tranches between June 2025 and June 2026. In addition, a one-time payment of €1000.00 is also planned for August 2025 to cover the contract holiday period and the revaluation of key allowances such as shifts, Sundays, trips, and meal reimbursements. Starting from 2026, railway contract workers will receive meal vouchers worth €7.00.
On the regulatory front, new safety measures have been introduced, including the introduction of the Site Health and Safety Representative and the Stop Work Authority, which allows workers to stop their activities in case of potential danger without facing disciplinary sanctions.
Regarding the Italian Railway Group corporate agreement, measures have been introduced to enhance welfare, pension and health care provisions, as well as a specific agreement to recover the 2024 performance bonus, set at €950.00. Bonus amounts for the following two years have also been set at €1100.00 for 2025 (to be given in 2026) and €1200.00 for 2026 (to be given in 2027). From a wage perspective, certain allowances have been revalued.
Trade unions are expected to finalize the agreement by June 20th.
