Uiltucs-Uil, a labour union in Italy, has announced the outcome of its first meeting with Assofarm (the Association for Municipal Pharmacies) to discuss the renewal of the national collective labour contract (CCNL). In the meeting, held on May 6, trade unions expressed their advocacy platform, which was proposed to the employer’s association in February following approval in regional assemblies and national coordination.
The labour unions, Uiltucs, Filcams, and Fisascat are keen to renew the collective agreement as soon as possible, with an emphasis on recognizing the professional skills in the sector and improving the living and working conditions of pharmacists and those working in publicly funded pharmacies run by local authorities.
A crucial aspect of the discussion is salary adjustment that takes into account the loss of purchasing power and inflation discrepancies, while introducing a system to protect wages in case of delays or failure to renew contracts.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 20 where Assofarm will respond to the proposals made by the trade unions. Subsequent meetings planned for June 17 and June 24 will delve into the details of individual institutes.
