On September 3, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Education and Merit focused on the distribution of the National Fund for School Directors for the 2024/2025 school year. The goal was the signing of a proposed integrated contract.
However, the Union expressed its opposition and refused to sign the proposed agreement, finding the wage disparity among different complexity levels of schools unacceptable. In particular, the Union highlighted:
– The salary difference between category A schools and category C schools is about 8,000.00 euros;
– The performance bonus for a principal in a category A school can exceed the variable pay of a category C school by 3,500.00 euros.
The Unions believe that the additional resources of the National Fund for the 2024/2025 school year should be used to reduce these disparities. Because of the failure to reach an agreement, a new meeting has been scheduled for September 11, 2025.
On another note, the supplementary agreement for the use of the FUN 2023/2024 resources was signed. About 5.5 million euros were allocated to increase fixed pay, while 3.8 million euros were used to increase performance-based pay.
In conclusion, the Union confirmed that the agreement would allow for the payment of performance bonuses for the 2023/2024 academic year and the adjustment of compensations to the new national categories.
