The Italian National Institute of Social Security (INPS) has announced a new feature within the Tax Drawer of the taxpayer known as “Request for sickness certificates”. Employers, or their authorized intermediaries, can use this feature to request sickness certificates for their employees at a specific certified email address (PEC).
The process involves an automated data recovery system that only asks for any additional data required to fulfil the request. This data might include: the period in question (month/year); the PEC address; and selected contribution positions.
The INPS further reports that the service is set to evolve, eventually allowing for automatic requests for sickness certificates for the upcoming 12 months.
