Decreto interministeriale sulla disparità di genere pubblicato

The article discusses a decree (D.M. n. 3217/2024) identifying job sectors and professions characterized by a gender disparity exceeding 25% above the average, according to ISTAT data. The identified sectors and professions, listed in Annex 1 (table A) and 2 (table B) respectively, have been published on the website of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies.

The decree, issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, specifically identifies job sectors and professions with notable gender disparity. From table A, data reveals sectors like agriculture with a 47.9% gender disparity, extractive industry with an 82.2% disparity, and transport and storage services with a 56.4% disparity.

Table B identifies professions with significant gender disparity. For instance, specialized craftsmen and metalworkers, electric and electronic equipment installers and maintenance workers have a whopping gender disparity of 95.9%. Agricultural workers and specialists in agriculture, forestry, livestock, fishing, and hunting have a disparity of 65.1%. Small business owners and managers experience a disparity of 34.4%, and unqualified professions in trade and services have a disparity of 17.1%.

Interestingly, the sectors and professions highlighted in the decree basis provide vital input for future gender equality incentives as stipulated in Article 4, clauses 8-11 of Law 92/2012. This law applies to sectors and professions with significant gender disparity, aiding in its identification and subsequent steps towards rectification. The data, current as of the most recent year available, sets the path for equality efforts in 2025.
