Following the success of a strike on March 31, 2025, the trade unions Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl, and Uilcom-Uil are calling for the reopening of negotiations for the renewal of their sectorial contract, which expired two and a half years prior. They’re advocating for the interests of more than 150,000 workers in the sector.
In the upcoming ministerial meeting on April 24, 2025, the trade unions plan to request immediate measures to protect employment. For instance, they’re calling for the reintroduction of contract expansion financing to encourage generational turnover and remix professional competences, as well as the financing for the Sector Solidarity Fund to manage transitions and restructuring. Moreover, they’ll push for the recognition of the TLC contract as a safeguard against the challenging conditions workers face due to contracts signed by associations not representing the sector.
Adding onto that, the trade unions intend to press the government on its industrial policies for the sector. Given this background, the unions are prepared to continue mobilizing until they secure a contract renewal that brings workers’ wages in line with the cost of living and reflects the significant role the telecommunications sector plays in the country’s technological development.
