The recently signed regional supplementary contract for Food and Artisanal Breadmaking concerns approximately 3,000 workers in the Abruzzo region in Italy. The contract covers workers in food-related artisanal businesses, non-artisanal companies that employ up to 15 people in the food industry, non-artisanal businesses that produce and supply food and meals for customer in the catering industry, and businesses in the breadmaking sector.
One of the new features recognized in these contracts is the Regional Economic Element (EER), a monthly amount calculated on contractual minimum wages, including contingencies. The distribution is broken down this way: starting June 1, 2025, there will be a 2% allowance; for year 2026, a 2.3% allowance will take effect from January 1; and for 2027, a 2.5% allowance will be applied from January 1.
Besides the economic considerations, the contracts also emphasize certain normative aspects. These include a significant focus on professional training, prevention, safety at the workplace, and combating gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination.
