On June 6, 2025, a meeting took place between the National Secretariats of Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl, Uilcom-Uil, Fnc-Ugl, Snater, and Libersind-Confsal and Rai on the Industrial and Real Estate Plan, Rai Way, Production Models, and Personnel. The meeting revolved around several key topics that raised discussions and debates.
For the Industrial Plan, Rai confirmed all the pillars of the Plan, including the Real Estate Plan and the business and editorial objectives. The company reiterated the need to adhere to the timetable and the importance of adapting real estate for Rai’s transformation.
The strategic importance of Rai Way to the Group was underscored, but Rai also expressed the possibility of selling off the majority of shares held by Rai or to facilitate a merger. The unions, while reinforcing their positions, expressed strong doubts about the feasibility of such an operation, considering it a strategically important asset for Rai and the country, and invited maximum caution.
The discussion also touched on Production Models and Personnel. Rai referred to the Guidelines, but did not provide specific details or a deadline for beginning concrete discussions with the unions. It indicated that dialogue could only begin after the conclusion of internal “working groups”. A deep dissatisfaction and strong protest from the unions followed this approach, who described the method of discussion as “unilateral and arrogant”.
The trade unions urged for a quick completion of the internal “working groups” and to begin intensive discussions on productive and organizational models, considering them essential for the defense of employment boundaries.
Finally, a re-discussion was requested on the stabilization of Journalists in Networks and on the fallout for the figure of the Author, as well as on the so-called “Polo Regia”. The goal is to align on strategies and future changes that could potentially impact job security and roles of these individuals on various levels.
