Recently, a series of meetings were held between the Ministry of Education and Merit and trade union organizations, focused on the issue of staffing of teaching and ATA personnel. Regarding the teaching staff, the quota of seats destined for enhancement remains unchanged. However, the provisions contained in D.L. no. 71/2024 will be applied, which had planned the activation in the staff of a teaching position for Italian for foreigners (A-23) to be allocated to schools where classes register with a presence of foreign students enrolled for the first time exceeding 20%.
Concerning the support, an increase of 1,866 teachers is expected, under the budget law, which will be distributed proportionally among the different regions, but only to secondary schools of II degree.
Discussions continued on two recent decrees dedicated to ATI staff. With respect to the revision of the criteria for the reduction of 2,174 positions projected for the 2026/2027 academic year, the conversation ended with a strongly negative opinion from trade union organizations. The decree provides an intervention that changes the development criteria of the staffing calculation, operating exclusively on the profile of school collaborators and exclusively in secondary schools of the second degree.
The discussion then shifted to the second D.M., which involves the introduction of the new organization following the CCNL. The meeting concluded with the administration’s commitment to proceed with a new call in the coming days.
