On September 17, 2025, a meeting took place between the trade union organizations Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl, Uilcom-Uil, Ugl-Chimici Carta e Stampa and the employer associations Assoscarta, Assografici. During the meeting, the employer side presented a proposal for a wage increase of 216.00 euros to the trade union organizations.
This proposal comprises a 190.00 euro increase in table minimums, which includes 115.00 euros of IPCA (Italian Price Consumer Index) and 75.00 euros of variance for the two-year period 2022-2023. Additionally, there’s 3.00 euros for the Byblos fund, another 3.00 euros for the supplementary health fund Salute Sempre, and, 20.00 euros of increase for the night shift pay bonus with a rise from 26% to 27%.
Trade union organizations rejected the proposal, calling it inadequate for the expected wage recovery considering the inflation for the biennium considered. On September 22, the joint trade union organization forcefully reaffirmed the union claims such as proper wages, adjustment of the continuous cycle allowance, and a true increase in night shift pay.
Besides reiterating the urgency to renew the collective labor contract expired over nine months ago, the unions are requesting to finalize a new professional classification model through a phase of discussion and simulation.
In the absence of appropriate responses, the trade union organizations have declared a state of agitation in the sector anticipating flexibility block, shift change, overtime bank and overtime. They also announced a package of 16 strike hours which will be pronounced if the responses are not in line with the union claims.
Lastly, the unions hope for a prompt start of a meeting process in all workplaces.
