The Italian National Institute of Social Security (INPS) has announced the launch of an online service for applications relating to the one-time contribution of €1,000 for children born or adopted between 1st January 2026 and 31st December 2026. From 14th April 2026, parents can apply for the Newborn Bonus for each child born, adopted, or in pre-adoptive foster care between these dates, via the dedicated service on INPS’ institutional website.
Eligibility for the benefit requires a valid ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Index) for specific family benefits and inclusion for the child for whom the Bonus is requested. This amount, neutralised by the amounts of the single and universal allowance, must not exceed €40,000.
The application must be submitted within 120 days of the event (birth, adoption, or pre-adoptive fostering). Submitting the application after this period results in forfeiture of the Bonus right. INPS specifies that for events occurring before the service’s launch, the application must be submitted by 12th August 2026 or it will be void, as the 120-day period begins from the date of the message’s publication, 14th April 2026.
Applications can be submitted by one of the parents and, if the parents do not live together, by the parent residing with the minor. Applications can only be submitted electronically through the following channels:
– INPS website, using personal digital identity (SPID of level 2 or higher, CIE 3.0, CNS or eIDAS), accessible via the dedicated service: “Support, Subsidies and Allowances”> “For parents”> “Newborn Bonus”.
– INPS Mobile app, using the “Newborn Bonus” function.
– Multichannel Contact Center.
– Trade Unions.
Finally, instructions regarding the ISEE for specific family benefits and inclusion, and its application, were provided by the Institute in Circular No. 45/2026.
