Launching the Third Edition of the New Skills Fund

On November 27, 2024, a decree from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies was published in the Legal Advertising section of the ministerial institution’s website. The decree, dated October 10, 2024, was prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This marks the launch of the third edition of the New Skills Fund (Fondo Nuove Competenze or FNC). This initiative aims to guide digital and ecological transition processes in businesses and promote new employment opportunities.

To achieve its goals, the FNC will be allocated €730 million from the National “Youth, Women and Work” Program. This fund is co-financed by the ESF+, or European Structural and Investment Funds Plus. Additional resources may also be added from the complementary Operational Program “Active Employment Policy Systems”, from the national and regional Operational Programs of ESF+, and, for specific purposes, from the income support and training fund provided by the Biagi Law (Legislative Decree no. 276/2003).

These funds will partially cover the hourly cost of workers involved in training paths and, in a new development for this edition of the FNC, of unemployed individuals who have been pre-selected by the company for subsequent employment.
