On November 7, 2024, a meeting was scheduled at the headquarters of Confagricoltura Avellino, a farmers advocacy organization, with the goal of determining wage and employment conditions for farm and nursery workers in the region over the next three years. In attendance were local employer representations from Confagricoltura Avellino, the Provincial Federation of Coldiretti Avellino, the Italian Farmers Confederation, and trade union organizations, Fai-Cisl, Flai-Cgil and Uila-Uil.
These organizations were there to establish the renewal of the contract applicable to agricultural and nursery workers in the province of Avellino from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027. The objective was centered around establishing economic stability, wealth preservation, and ensuring adequate recognition for the workers in this sector.
Key among the provisions was a scheduled pay increase of 6%. This, implemented from October 1, 2024, was aimed at compensating for inflation and securing a fair economic recognition for the labor force. Precisely, this increase applied to contractual wages that were current as of December 31, 2023, and it was made to apply across various professional levels in agricultural and nursery business operations.
Besides wages, the meeting deemed it necessary to implement an increase of 0.20 euros, charged to employers, small colonists, and family co-participants, for each day of work certified for Inps contributions from January 1, 2025. This resolution aimed to allow the Bilateral Body of Avellino (EBAT Avellino) to guarantee and provide the health assistance and treatments envisaged, as well as fulfill other tasks entrusted to it.
While the breakdown of the allocation wasn’t immediately established, the constituent parties agreed to determine the amount to be dedicated to complementary health services to the legal treatments by a separate agreement. Similarly, resources for other planned activities were to be allocated as per the guidelines of Article 3, letter a), of the EBAT Avellino statute.
In conclusion, the meeting assured the agricultural and nursery workers’ community of Avellino province an increase in wages in line with the inflation rate. It also committed to facilitating the provision of necessary health and wellness services, thus improving the working conditions in the sector over the determined period.
