On November 3, 2025, the Social Partners signed a preliminary agreement for the renewal of the contract for local government departments for the three-year period 2022-2024. The agreement introduces several new reforms, including economic increase, new rights, and increased protections for employees.
One significant change is the introduction of a flexible work schedule that enables the 36-hour work week to be spread over four days. Moreover, meal vouchers are being extended to include employees who work remotely also known as smart working.
Further, the agreement expands protections for employees in various areas including maternity and paternity rights, leaves of absence as well as overall employee wellness. One of the vital measures brought in is the provision for the employer to cover the legal expenses at every level of the court system, for employees who experience any form of aggression from third parties during their working duties.
From an economic perspective, the contract foresees an average monthly wage increase of 136.76 euros gross for thirteen monthly payments. This increase accounts for 5.78% on the 2021 salary fund. Coupled with an additional increase of 0.22% for accessory treatment, employees will see a roughly 140.00 euro increase in their monthly salary.
The updated salary details for various positions beginning from January 1, 2024, is summarized as follows:
– Highly Qualified Officials: Their salary will increase from 24,941.67 euros to 25,114.11 euros after the incorporation of the department allowance.
– Instructors: The pay will rise from 22,986.59 euros to 23,138.75 euros upon including the department allowance.
– Expert Operators: A rise from 20,452.55 euros to 20,583.23 euros after accounting for the department allowance.
– Operators: An increase from 19,645.43 euros to 19,753.07 euros upon including the department allowance.
